Job description
About Slalom
Slalom is a consulting business that puts people first and focuses on transforming companies end to end through technology. With more than 20 years in the market and a presence across 45+ global markets, the firm gives teams the freedom to act quickly and make the right call for clients, with a more personal and agile approach than traditional consultancies.
The Auckland office opened in February 2023 and continues to expand. This position offers an opportunity to join during a formative stage and help shape the next phase of growth.
About the Role
The Senior Director, Strategy will serve as a key leader for Slalom’s New Zealand market solutions. This foundational hire will help build the local strategy capability and drive client outcomes that are rooted in business goals.
You will partner closely with local leadership and work with executive and board-level stakeholders. The role involves turning complex business issues into clear transformation and technology roadmaps, with a strong emphasis on connecting business priorities to digital enablement rather than only the technical side of strategy.
A major part of the job is to frame and communicate the transformation journey for customers, especially across high-demand areas such as AI and data.
Key Strengths and Experience Needed
- Leadership presence at Director or Senior Director level, with the confidence and credibility to engage senior executives and board members.
- Experience leading large-scale digital transformation programs and the ability to explain these journeys in a way clients can relate to.
- A strong business and corporate strategy background, including the ability to show how areas such as data, AI, and ERP support business KPIs.
- Solid experience in professional services or consulting, with an understanding of how to operate and grow a consulting practice.
- Experience in customer experience or service design is preferred, as this capability may be grown in the New Zealand market.
- Comfort working through uncertainty and pace, while moving initiatives from strategy into delivery.
- Background knowledge in finance or supply chain would be a strong advantage.
Culture and Values
Slalom’s culture is shaped by its people and supports workplace diversity so that colleagues from all backgrounds can contribute fully. The company aims to reflect the diversity of the communities it serves, and its values are part of everyday decision-making.
The New Zealand team places strong importance on work-life balance, flexibility, and mutual support. The environment is designed to help people thrive both professionally and personally, with investment in wellbeing, allowances, and development across professional, technical, and personal growth.
This is also a chance to join one of the founding members of the New Zealand business and help define the local culture and values.
Benefits
Slalom offers competitive and progressive benefits designed to support the needs of a diverse workforce. The package includes support for holistic wellbeing, meaningful allowances, and investment in employee development.
