Job description
Company Overview
Adyen LLC is a global fintech platform that helps businesses take payments, reduce revenue loss, and manage financial operations through one unified system. The company works with major enterprises and digital-first innovators to create smooth payment journeys across channels and markets. It is recognized for an engineering-led mindset, a focus on durable innovation, and a commitment to building secure, scalable products. Teams across functions and regions work together to develop advanced payment and financial solutions that help customers grow quickly, while the organization emphasizes transparency, diversity, and a strong sense of ownership.
Role Overview
The Director, North America Advanced Systems Development is a full-time remote leadership role focused on shaping, building, and launching sophisticated payment and financial systems across North America. The position is accountable for cross-functional program roadmaps and for keeping engineering, product, operations, and commercial priorities aligned so the organization can deliver meaningful solutions at scale.
What You Will Do
In this role, you will define the technical and product direction for advanced systems work, oversee the execution of large R&D initiatives, and continuously improve architecture, performance, and reliability. You will lead a distributed team, set clear goals and success measures, and encourage a culture built on experimentation, accountability, and collaboration. The role also involves working closely with senior leaders and clients to uncover emerging needs, convert them into scalable solutions, and represent North American perspectives in global product and technology discussions.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate brings strong program and project management ability, with a track record of planning, prioritizing, and delivering complex multi-workstream initiatives on schedule and within scope. Experience in research and development, product development, and technical systems innovation is important, along with the ability to translate new ideas into scalable products. You should also have proven leadership experience building and developing high-performing, diverse teams in an inclusive environment.
Additional Requirements
Applicants should have a background in advanced technical or systems development within fintech, payments, or a similar technology field. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are needed, especially when influencing senior audiences and collaborating across global, cross-functional teams. Comfort working independently in a remote, distributed setup is essential, as is strong organization and self-management. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline is required; an advanced degree or comparable experience is considered an advantage. Familiarity with North American payment ecosystems, regulatory considerations, and enterprise-scale customers is preferred.
Notes
This role is based in the United States and is structured as a remote position. The provided posting does not specify compensation, number of openings, or start date.
