Role Summary
The Senior Corporate Associate will handle sophisticated corporate assignments, including transaction structuring, drafting and negotiating commercial and shareholder agreements, and advising on company setup, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance. The position also involves managing due diligence, preparing legal opinions, reviewing corporate and finance documentation, and supporting cross-border transactions where required.
This role includes regular interaction with clients, regulators, and counterparties, alongside mentoring junior colleagues and helping build the firm’s internal knowledge base. The associate will also work with other practice groups to provide integrated legal advice and assist with business development efforts.
Key Duties
- Advise on corporate matters such as incorporation, governance, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and commercial contracting.
- Structure transactions and prepare, review, and negotiate relevant legal documentation.
- Carry out and supervise due diligence for investments, corporate deals, and regulatory assessments.
- Draft legal opinions and advisory notes with clarity and precision.
- Review finance-linked transaction documents, including capital and funding arrangements.
- Coordinate with clients, government or regulatory bodies, and transaction counterparties.
- Support cross-border matters and collaborate with other legal teams on combined matters.
- Guide junior team members and contribute to internal training and knowledge-sharing.
- Participate in business development and client service initiatives.
Required Profile
- Advanced knowledge of corporate law, including company formation, governance, M&A, joint ventures, and commercial agreements.
- Proven ability to analyze complicated legal issues, evaluate risk, and recommend practical solutions.
- Working knowledge of finance-related aspects of corporate deals, such as capital structures and financing documentation.
- Experience leading or overseeing due diligence exercises for transactions and compliance reviews.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for drafting, advisory work, client discussions, and negotiations.
- Qualified law graduate from a recognized institution; bar admission or authorization to practice in a relevant jurisdiction is preferred.
- Several years of post-qualification experience in corporate practice within a reputable law firm or an in-house legal team.
- Comfort working in multicultural settings and with cross-functional teams.
- Fluency in English is essential; Arabic language ability is an added advantage.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage several matters and deadlines at once.
Work Arrangement
This is a full-time, on-site position in Doha, Qatar.
