Role overview
This position leads contracting and commercial oversight for a significant onshore EPC project. The role focuses on shaping contract approach, running tendering and contract execution, controlling commercial exposure, and ensuring high-value agreements are administered effectively from start to finish.
Core responsibilities
- Direct all contracting activities for the project, covering tendering, EPC agreements, and service contracts.
- Create and apply contract strategies aligned with project goals and wider business priorities.
- Manage the full contract cycle, including preparation, review, evaluation, negotiation, award, and administration.
- Structure contract provisions so that risks are allocated appropriately and company interests remain protected.
- Handle contractor performance issues, scope changes, claims, disputes, and commercial discussions.
- Advise project leaders and other stakeholders on contractual and commercial matters.
- Track contractual compliance, payment approvals, securities, and final contract close-out.
- Spot commercial and contractual risks early and take action to reduce their impact on cost and schedule.
- Develop and guide a strong contracts team while promoting process improvement and best practice.
- Work closely with Legal, Procurement, Finance, Project Controls, and outside contractors.
Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor's degree in Business, Law, Engineering, or a similar field is required.
- Applicants should bring at least 12 years of experience in the Oil & Gas sector across project management, engineering, construction, procurement, or contracts.
- Prior success managing contracts on large EPC or major capital projects is necessary.
- A minimum of 3 years in a leadership position within a major project setting is expected.
- Strong capability in tendering, commercial leadership, risk control, and contract administration is essential.
