Role Summary

The Senior Contracts Administrator is responsible for handling complex contractual matters, protecting the organization’s interests, and helping ensure that contractual obligations are met while risks are controlled and commercial value is maximized. The position requires strong knowledge of contract law, project management, financial analysis, negotiation, and clear communication. The role involves close coordination with project teams, clients, legal advisors, and other stakeholders to manage disputes, claims, and contract-related correspondence in a professional manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice on contract-related issues and manage contractual correspondence in line with the Prime Contract terms and conditions, specifications, drawings, and construction change orders.
  • Oversee contractual commitments and monitor the performance of work against client instructions, specifications, drawings, and contract terms, including any change orders.
  • Support clients in preparing Extension of Time claims and assist in responding to contractor Extension of Time claims.
  • Review and interpret contract documents, scope documents, drawings, as-built schedules, and delay records, while confirming actual dates and priority items with the client to ensure contractual compliance.
  • Assess project delays by studying schedules, progress updates, and supporting documents, and work with project managers and engineers to determine the causes, including scope changes, unforeseen events, and external influences.
  • Apply delay analysis methods to measure the schedule and cost impact of delays.
  • Create practical mitigation approaches to reduce schedule and contract risks.
  • Prepare delay reports and supporting documentation for claims and dispute resolution, and offer expert input in negotiations, mediation, or legal proceedings.
  • Deliver high-quality guidance on pre-contract matters, including procurement strategy and contracting tactics.
  • Administer contract variations and change orders, ensuring all changes are properly documented and communicated to stakeholders.
  • Review, evaluate, and prepare well-supported estimates and claims for contractual alterations and variations.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in managing contractual commitments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Law, or a related field.
  • Mandatory MRICS chartered membership.
  • Strong working knowledge of contract law, delay analysis, claims preparation, and variation management.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with project, legal, and client stakeholders.
  • Experience handling pre-contract and post-contract contractual matters in a professional project environment.
