Job description
Job Purpose
The Senior Contract Manager will take ownership of the full contract lifecycle for construction projects, with responsibility for ensuring compliance, controlling commercial exposure, and managing claims and variations to safeguard the company’s financial and legal position.
Contract Administration & Negotiation
- Prepare and examine main contracts, subcontract agreements, and joint venture documents.
- Handle negotiations with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and legal counsel.
- Review tender documentation during the pre-award stage to flag clauses that may create risk.
- Make sure all contract actions are consistent with company policy, UAE legislation, and applicable statutory requirements.
Claims & Variation Management
- Oversee variations, change orders, and instructions that affect the project scope.
- Evaluate extension of time claims and prepare detailed claims for prolongation.
- Issue formal contractual notices and correspondence to protect the company’s contractual rights.
- Respond to and challenge counterclaims raised by subcontractors or client entities.
Risk Mitigation & Compliance
- Spot commercial risks at an early stage and put practical mitigation measures in place.
- Track project milestones to ensure contractual commitments are met in full.
- Keep accurate records of contracts, logs, and all related correspondence.
- Guide project directors on dispute resolution and approaches to prevent conflicts from escalating.
Education & Experience
This role requires a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Law, along with 8 to 15 years of experience in construction contract management. Prior experience in the GCC region is strongly preferred, especially within the UAE market.
