About Roland Berger
Roland Berger is a global strategy advisory firm with a broad offering across major industries and business functions. Established in 1967 and based in Munich, the firm is known for its work in transformation, innovation, and performance improvement, with sustainability embedded across its engagements. It operates from 52 offices in 33 countries and employs more than 3,500 people.
Australia is the newest market in Roland Berger’s international network, with a recently opened Sydney office. The firm is looking for self-driven people with an entrepreneurial mindset who are excited by the opportunity to help shape a new market. Candidates who are highly capable, collaborative, and motivated to grow will be a strong match.
Role Overview
As a Senior Consultant / Project Manager in the Transaction & Investor Services team, you will lead and manage a variety of assignments for financial sponsor clients. The work spans the full transaction journey, including opportunity screening, due diligence, post-deal value creation, and exit preparation. Projects may cut across sectors such as consumer, healthcare, financial services, technology, business services, industrials, and others.
This area is the starting point for Roland Berger’s Australian business, supported by the firm’s strong brand and network. The role also offers room to develop your own platform, build a market reputation, and contribute to long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of deliverables for parts of larger engagements or lead smaller projects in fast-moving, high-pressure settings.
- Work closely with client contacts at different seniority levels.
- Guide and support consultants working on your projects.
- Drive stakeholder discussions such as interviews and group sessions.
- Break down complex problems, analyse information, and turn findings into clear conclusions.
- Carry out market, customer, and competitor analysis.
- Perform financial and operational assessments of businesses.
- Build and present strong financial models when needed.
- Communicate findings clearly in both written reports and verbal presentations.
- Support client relationship development and business growth activities.
Requirements
- 6 to 8 years of experience in strategy consulting, or 4 to 8 years of relevant transaction-focused industry experience such as consulting or investment banking.
- Demonstrated delivery experience on both buy-side and sell-side work, including commercial and operational due diligence.
- Exposure to value creation work, including revenue growth and margin or cost improvement, will be an advantage.
- Experience working with financial sponsor clients such as private equity, private credit, or infrastructure funds.
- Proven ability to manage others and delegate tasks to more junior team members.
- Strong academic background from a leading institution, at graduate or postgraduate level.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Strong analytical ability along with financial modelling, commercial thinking, creativity, and narrative-building skills.
- Willingness to travel and comfort with the consulting lifestyle.
- Australian or New Zealand citizenship or residency is required.
Additional Information
