Job description

Role Overview

This position is responsible for overseeing the daily execution of offshore deconstruction, demolition, and project delivery activities assigned to the department. The work must align with the approved scope of work, drawings, engineering design, and QatarEnergy’s safety, environmental, and technical standards.

The role also involves directing the construction supervisor and contractor teams so that all deconstruction and decommissioning tasks are carried out according to approved method statements, while meeting schedule, quality, and HSE expectations.

Experience and Technical Background

  • A total of 10 to 12 years of relevant experience is required, with strong exposure to offshore deconstruction, demolition, and decommissioning activities.
  • Hands-on experience in oil and gas production or wellhead platform topsides, jacket structures, and subsea assets is essential.
  • Knowledge of subsea infrastructure such as pipelines, umbilicals, flatpacks, and composite cables is required.
  • Experience in sea fastening inspections, reviewing and approving lifting plans, and evaluating construction or demolition method statements is necessary.
  • Practical understanding of load-out operations is expected.
  • Strong awareness of engineering standards, quality assurance, safety, and environmental practices is required.
  • Ability to interpret and assess method statements, inspection and test plans, construction schedules, and drawings is important.
  • The candidate must be able to identify likely issues or constraints early and propose workable solutions.
  • Experience working with diverse, multinational contractor teams is needed.
  • Computer literacy is required, along with strong spoken and written communication skills.
  • Excellent English language proficiency, both verbal and written, is essential.

Education

A B.Sc. in Engineering, a Diploma in Engineering from a recognized university, or an Ordinary National Certificate (ONC) in Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification, along with relevant training in Safety, Quality Control, and Construction.
