Job description

Role overview

Police Scotland is looking for a Senior Caretaker to oversee caretaking activity across assigned buildings. The role helps maintain a safe, secure and well-kept environment for employees and members of the public through a mix of maintenance support, porterage, cleaning oversight and general security-related duties.

This post is located at the Dundee West Bell site, with working hours of Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead local caretaking staff and, where needed, cleaning personnel.
  • Supervise and coordinate cleaning activities so buildings remain clean, usable and fit for staff.
  • Spot defects or faults in buildings, complete minor repairs where possible, or escalate issues to the Facilities Officer; handle emergency building situations appropriately to keep the estate safe and maintained.
  • Inspect plant and plant rooms every day to confirm heating, ventilation and hot water systems are operating correctly and efficiently.
  • Ensure lighting, alarm systems, water systems and sanitary installations are properly maintained and repaired when required.
