Job Summary
This role serves as the main contact point for coordination between internal business units and advertising agencies. The position is responsible for supporting advertising operations, including managing media schedules across TV, newspapers, magazines, publications, online channels, and social media for QNB Group’s advertising activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the advertising budget and help ensure its effective use in delivering the Group Communications advertising strategy.
- Contribute to KPI development, monitor results periodically, and help apply performance and quality measures for the advertising function.
- Apply best practices and support a cost-conscious, efficient approach that reduces waste and improves value.
- Work within delegated authority and decision-making limits.
- Build and maintain relationships with advertising agencies, as well as local and international media partners including newspapers and television stations.
- Assist customers with product-related queries and help route them toward suitable solutions.
- Coordinate with internal teams under service level agreements to improve turnaround times and support smooth delivery.
- Maintain effective working relationships with other departments to support overall business goals.
- Provide accurate and timely information to auditors, compliance, financial control, and risk teams when requested.
- Implement departmental policies and procedures that support an effective advertising framework.
- Oversee the day-to-day execution of the advertising plan and strategy.
- Coordinate updates from the Advertising Coordinator on strategic planning and local/international advertising projects, and escalate important points to the VP Advertising.
- Define advertising, promotional, and media objectives, then work with agencies and internal stakeholders to deliver them on time and within budget.
- Coordinate the preparation and completion of advertising and promotional assets for assigned product groups with internal teams, agencies, and vendors.
- Maintain and grow the database of sponsors and advertisers and develop new relationships with prospective partners.
- Plan advertising activities across business units and consolidate individual plans into an overall international advertising strategy.
- Support the development of the advertising strategy and contribute ideas for improvement.
- Handle day-to-day people issues such as counselling, grievances, disciplinary matters, and recruitment when required.
- Track and assess the effectiveness of advertising campaigns.
- Work independently on complex tasks where existing procedures may not be available.
- Stay informed about relevant regulations and best practices affecting the group’s operations.
- Take responsibility for self-development and keep professional knowledge current.
- Comply with legal, regulatory, and internal requirements, including AML/CTF, sanctions, data protection, fraud control, whistleblowing, conflict of interest, and insider dealing policies.
- Act in line with the Three Lines of Defense model to identify, assess, monitor, manage, and report risks.
- Support conduct-risk expectations and help maintain good outcomes for clients.
- Contribute to operational risk processes such as RCSA, KRI monitoring, incident reporting, and remediation where relevant.
- Keep required knowledge and qualifications up to date and complete all mandatory training and seminars assigned by the bank.
- Protect data confidentiality and handle sensitive information carefully on a strict need-to-know basis.
- Maintain strong professional standards that support QNB’s reputation and market leadership.
- Carry out additional related tasks as assigned by management.
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in Advertising or a closely related field is preferred. The role requires at least 2 years of experience in a major bank, with a minimum of 1 year in a comparable role.
Required Skills
The candidate should be able to build and execute advertising and research plans in complex organisations, create effective internal communication solutions, and develop multi-channel messaging for different audience groups. Strong judgement is needed to identify what is appropriate for the organisation’s culture and to propose suitable advertising activities. The role also calls for discretion with sensitive information, strong writing and presentation ability, excellent organisation, project management, and the capacity to work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
Language and Personal Attributes
Very strong spoken and written English is required, and Arabic is preferred. The ideal candidate should also have strong analytical and interpersonal abilities, be flexible in a team setting, and demonstrate honesty, integrity, initiative, stamina, perseverance, and a strong work ethic.
