Job description
Job Purpose
This role is responsible for building and sustaining strong accounting processes, controls, and policies so that financial records remain accurate, compliant, and reliable. The position covers core accounting operations, reporting, payroll handling, and record management, while also helping protect company assets and supporting better financial decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Audit and Documentation
- Check, validate, and keep complete records for invoices, payments, and related accounting documents in line with internal controls and audit expectations.
- Carry out bookkeeping tasks, enter financial data, verify records, and confirm completeness and accuracy.
- Make sure all accounting transactions are properly supported and can be retrieved easily for internal or external audit reviews.
Financial Reporting
- Draft periodic financial statements and management reports according to applicable accounting standards and reporting needs.
- Handle month-end and year-end close work, including accruals, reconciliations, and financial review analysis.
- Prepare, review, and post journal entries to keep accounting records correct and up to date.
Payroll Administration
- Run payroll accurately and on schedule while following company policies and legal requirements.
- Track employee benefit payments and maintain complete backup records and documentation.
Financial Transactions Management
- Create supporting schedules and transaction files, including historical records, analysis notes, comments, and issue resolutions, to support accurate accounting and future reference.
- Ensure all transaction processing and financial recordkeeping are complete and correct.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work with internal teams and stakeholders to keep payment processing efficient and financial operations running smoothly.
- Offer accounting support and direction to help teams follow established financial procedures.
Budget Monitoring and Cost Control
- Track and record expenses accurately, and provide management with insights into spending patterns and cost trends.
- Support budget control efforts by spotting variances and suggesting corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain cost allocation methods, expense collection approaches, and accounting rules that improve consistency and reliability of financial data.
General Accounting
- Manage a broad range of accounting tasks, including preparing, maintaining, and reconciling general ledger accounts and financial statements.
- Prepare balance sheets, income statements, capital expenditure schedules, and other financial reports.
- Maintain fixed asset registers, asset ledgers, and related control schedules for proper asset tracking and accounting.
Additional Duties
Any other work-related tasks assigned by the direct supervisor or manager may also form part of this position.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a similar discipline is required.
- At least 6 years of progressive hands-on experience in accounting and financial reporting is needed.
- Professional credentials such as CMA or CPA are an advantage.
- Strong command of Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling and data analysis, is expected.
- Well-developed presentation and reporting abilities in Microsoft PowerPoint are required.
- A solid grasp of accounting principles, financial controls, and reporting standards is essential.
