Job description
About Silo
Silo is building software that modernizes the agricultural supply chain by making it more efficient and transparent. Its ERP platform is designed to help wholesalers, distributors, shippers, and importers improve margins, increase product freshness, and reduce waste.
The team is made up of engineers, designers, business professionals, and agricultural specialists working together to transform a long-established industry. The company is looking for self-driven people who enjoy complex challenges and thrive in cross-functional environments.
Why Join Silo
Working at Silo offers the chance to understand how a startup operates and to build skills that can serve you throughout your career. Team members are encouraged to take initiative and are supported in turning ideas into finished outcomes.
Role Overview
Silo is a private equity-backed B2B SaaS business looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to take ownership of the monthly close and the accounting work that sits above routine transaction processing. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this person will manage the full accounting cycle across multiple entities, apply sound GAAP judgment, solve issues independently, and deliver reporting that leadership and the board can trust.
In addition, the role will support the Finance Manager with planning, budgeting, and variance analysis by providing accurate data and meaningful analysis. This is a high-trust, high-autonomy position suited to a seasoned accountant who has personally run a complete month-end close and is ready to own execution from start to finish while the finance function continues to scale.
Responsibilities
- Lead the month-end close process from end to end, including setting the close schedule, preparing journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and deferred revenue, and reconciling all balance sheet and profit-and-loss accounts.
- Manage revenue recognition under US GAAP and ASC 606 across multiple product lines and subscription-plus-hardware arrangements, including deferred revenue schedules and contract modifications.
- Maintain the general ledger for a multi-entity structure, including intercompany activity and elimination entries.
- Investigate and clear reconciliation items independently across bank, credit card, intercompany, and balance sheet accounts by addressing the underlying cause rather than only surfacing the issue.
- Review and audit Excel-based supporting schedules and models, such as deferred revenue roll-forwards, accrual and prepaid schedules, and reconciliation support.
- Partner with the Finance Manager to support FP&A activities, including input into the annual operating budget and planning process, while contributing the accurate data required for the model.
- Assist with monthly variance analysis by helping review actuals against budget and forecast and explaining the key drivers behind the numbers.
- Provide analytical support for ad hoc requests and decision-making.
- Support audit, tax, and investor or sponsor reporting requests as needed.
- Handle additional responsibilities assigned by the Finance Manager.
Requirements
- At least 5 to 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including direct ownership of a full month-end close and responsibility for delivery.
- Practical experience with ASC 606 and SaaS revenue recognition, including deferred revenue work in a subscription-based business.
- Background in multi-entity accounting, including consolidations, intercompany transactions, and eliminations.
- Strong technical grounding in US GAAP, with the judgment to determine the correct accounting treatment without relying on a prebuilt template.
- Proven ability to independently resolve variances and clear reconciling items.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel capability, including pivot tables, lookups, and multi-tab models, along with the ability to build and audit schedules from the ground up.
- Comfort working with minimal supervision and prioritizing work in a fast-changing environment.
- Strong written communication skills suited to a remote team.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Rillet and/or QuickBooks.
- Exposure to ERP migrations or finance systems implementations.
- Background in a private equity-backed or high-growth SaaS environment, especially with ARR and multi-entity scale.
- CPA certification, or active progress toward earning it.
- Experience in agriculture, AgTech, or field services.
- Familiarity with BI or dashboarding tools.
Details
This is a remote role for candidates based in the United States and is offered on a full-time basis. The position reports to the Finance Manager. Compensation is $75,000 to $85,000.
