Job overview
This position is for a Senior Accountant based in Dubai, supporting finance operations, reporting, compliance, and audit coordination within a government-related environment.
Key responsibilities
- Handle core accounting tasks such as journal postings, bank reconciliations, invoicing, and accounts payable processing.
- Check financial records to confirm they are accurate and aligned with the relevant financial rules and internal policies.
- Compile regular financial statements and reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Track accounts receivable and accounts payable, and coordinate with the relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Carry out routine bank reconciliation work and make sure closing balances are correct.
- Perform periodic checks of assets and match the findings against the accounting records.
- Assist in preparing and tracking the annual budget, as well as financial reporting for senior leadership.
- Work with external auditors and share all supporting documents they require.
- Maintain financial information through electronic accounting systems and ensure records are updated and monitored properly.
- Make sure operations comply with applicable tax and social security laws and regulations, where relevant.
Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline is required.
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in accounting or finance is required.
- Background in government or semi-government organisations is preferred.
Skills and tools
- Strong understanding of IFRS and related accounting standards.
- Hands-on experience with accounting systems, including GRP or similar platforms.
- Good analytical and organisational abilities.
- Capability to produce accurate reports within deadlines.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Team-oriented working style.
