Role summary
Syngenta’s Seedcare Application & Sustainability team is hiring a Seedcare Technical Lead based in Lusaka, Zambia. The position is responsible for running the Seedcare Institute (SCI) and leading application stewardship and seed quality services for farmers and the seed industry.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee laboratory operations at the Seedcare Institute within the business area.
- Develop a Seedcare Institute plan that supports the business area’s five-year Seedcare goals.
- Make sure customers are served according to Syngenta policies and service standards, using Salesforce.com to track interactions.
- Carry out small-scale seed treatments, create customer-specific treatment recipes, and monitor application quality through SCI quality control tools and standards.
- Deliver customized seed application support based on each customer’s needs.
- Train customers on application methods and resolve application issues at seed company factories.
- Coordinate on-farm seed treatment activities with CP Key Account Managers, supported by the Seedcare Application Specialist and Seedcare Marketing Lead.
- Promote sustainability across Seedcare in the business area and help generate demand through successful demonstration trials.
- Work closely with CPD colleagues, agents, and Key Account Managers to ensure proper site selection and management before, during, and after trials.
- Collect, compile, and submit trial data and reports at the required time points in line with protocol guidance.
- Take part in field days, expos, and industry events, support agreed product campaigns for EASA, and contribute actively to the EASA Seedcare team.
Qualifications and experience
- BSc in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a closely related discipline, together with Production Management or Business Management.
- Membership of the Agricultural Institute of Zambia (AIZ).
- At least 5 years of experience in the seed care sector.
- Strong exposure to, or knowledge of, crop agronomy, seed processing, or a related area.
- Good grasp of the seed industry, crop protection, Seedcare, and good agricultural practices (GAP).
- Deep understanding of the seed industry in Southern Africa.
- Proven ability to manage stakeholders and train customers and farmers effectively.
