Role overview
This is a night-shift security position based on a long-term contract for a project in Margam, within the Port Talbot area. The role is being delivered by Laing O'Rourke in collaboration with Select Security.
What the role involves
You will be responsible for protecting construction and site premises, watching for unauthorised access, and helping ensure that the public does not enter dangerous areas by mistake. The job also includes carrying out regular walking patrols, along with security checks and health and safety inspections across the site.
Working pattern
This position is for night work only, with weekly hours ranging from 48 to 60. The average working week is 54 hours.

Essential criteria
Applicants must hold a valid SIA licence in one of the following areas: security guarding, door supervision, or close protection. Strong written and spoken communication is required, together with the ability to work well as part of a large security team and alongside other project stakeholders. A strong customer service mindset, good judgement, integrity, and a professional approach are also essential.
