Job description

Role Overview

Scaling.com helps founders and entrepreneurs expand their businesses by 10x or more within three years. The company uses behavioral science, disciplined strategy, and its proprietary Scaling Framework to help leaders execute with clarity and create deep, identity-level change.

This role sits at the center of Scaling.com’s evolution into a research and advisory organization. As the Research Data Scientist, you will lead the research side of the business by working with a distinctive and continuously growing dataset of more than 500 Scalers who are actively using the framework to pursue a 10x goal.

Your main objective is to identify the real drivers of exceptional scaling by examining what top-performing Scalers do, the patterns they follow, and the correlations that matter. The findings will be shared through monthly white papers for the Scaler community and peer-reviewed articles in academic business journals.

This is initially a one-person research function with the opportunity to grow into a team leadership role. You will partner directly with the founders, Dr. Benjamin Hardy and Blake Erickson, who will help refine your research direction, and you will collaborate daily with the curriculum and data teams. The ideal candidate is highly self-directed, builds their own research agenda, and is deeply committed to working with this dataset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Examine the Scaler dataset, including strategy call recordings, revenue information, and portal data, to uncover patterns, themes, trends, and correlations.
  • Study the highest-performing Scalers to determine what sets them apart, including the actions they take, what they eliminate, how their teams reshape, and how they increase their baseline performance.
  • Create a monthly white paper for the Scaler community highlighting what is currently working, including core patterns, behaviors of top performers, and measurable results from the previous 30 days.
  • Produce quarterly peer-reviewed research for academic business journals and help establish a credible research stream around the science of scaling.
  • Shape the data collection strategy by identifying what information should be captured from Scalers and strategists, and improve dataset quality over time.
  • Use AI tools effectively, including Avoma for call intelligence, to speed up thematic analysis across hundreds of interactions.
  • Turn research findings into clear, engaging writing and present the insights live to the Scaler community at events.
  • Help build the long-term research infrastructure and intellectual property foundation for Scaling.com.

Candidate Profile

  • Ph.D. candidate, recent Ph.D. graduate, postdoctoral researcher, or early-career professor in business, psychology, organizational behavior, entrepreneurship, or another quantitative field.
  • Strong ability in both quantitative and qualitative research, including study design, analysis, and methodological defense.
  • Prior experience with peer-reviewed publishing in business or social science journals, or a clear trajectory toward it.
  • Excellent writing skills, with the ability to communicate rigorously for academic audiences and clearly for founders and practitioners.
  • Comfortable using AI-supported research and analysis tools and motivated by complex, evolving datasets rather than tidy archival data.
  • Strong personal interest in the science of business scaling and a genuine desire to make this work the focus of your career.
  • Familiarity with The Science of Scaling and the willingness to work within the company’s framework and terminology.
  • Independent, self-managed, and proactive in defining priorities, surfacing findings, and moving work forward without close direction.

Benefits

  • Paid time off, including vacation days, sick leave, and company holidays.
  • Remote-work flexibility for U.S.-based employees, with the autonomy, structure, and support needed to succeed from your preferred location.

Additional Information

This position is based in the United States and is remote. The company is specifically looking for someone who can treat the research program as a long-term intellectual pursuit and contribute to the creation of a durable research engine.
