About the Role
Halifax C&D Recycling, a member of The Municipal Group of Companies, is seeking a dedicated Scale House Attendant for a permanent, full-time role at our Goodwood, NS facility. This position is crucial for managing incoming and outgoing truck traffic and ensuring efficient operations.
Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Scale House Attendant is to greet all truck drivers arriving at the scale house and accurately weigh their vehicles entering and leaving the facility. This role operates Monday to Friday from 7 am to 5 pm, with alternating Saturdays from 8 am to 3 pm.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist all drivers arriving at the scale house.
- Accurately weigh trucks using the scale as they enter and exit the facility.
- Verify and review all necessary delivery documentation.
- Process cash, credit, and debit transactions.
- Contribute to maintaining site security and controlling access to the facility.
- Perform routine data entry tasks on a computer with precision.
- Secure the scale house gates at the close of business each day.
- Maintain constant awareness of your surroundings.
- Uphold a safe working environment by adhering to all safety policies and procedures, utilizing appropriate tools and equipment.
- Ensure the safety of all fellow employees.
- Undertake other duties as assigned by management.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience
- Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Previous customer service experience is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain work records and generate reports.
- Capacity to adhere to a strict schedule with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with construction site protocols, rules, and code of conduct is required.
- Proficiency in basic computer operations.
- Ability to execute diverse manual tasks requiring independent judgment and action.
- A collaborative spirit and willingness to work effectively within a team.
- Commitment to complying with all safety policies and procedures.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Adherence to safety regulations is a mandatory condition of employment.
