Job description

Role overview

An established manufacturer of stainless-steel containment storage solutions is looking for a Sales Estimator to support its commercial team. This is a permanent, full-time position based in Eye, Suffolk, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 17:00.

The main aim of the role is to produce and manage quotations accurately for an international distributor network, helping the business maximise conversion opportunities while protecting commercial value.

What you will do

  • Work with distributors and internal teams to confirm that specifications match the customer’s requirements.
  • Keep quotation-related pricing, cost, and supporting records organised and up to date.
  • Help prepare order-processing paperwork where needed and join handover meetings to ensure information is passed through the business smoothly.
  • Make sure all information needed for meaningful order progression is in place before work is handed over to other internal functions.
  • Support continuous improvement in product and service quality in line with ISO 9001 standards.
  • Review enquiries carefully to spot commercial, contractual, and technical risks and deal with them early in the sales process.
  • Prepare quotations using approved pricing data, controlled proposal documents, and authorised pricing rules in line with company procedures.
  • Ensure pricing, discounting, contract terms, and trade conditions are applied correctly and consistently.
  • Check incoming orders thoroughly and resolve missing details or discrepancies at the source so internal customers can be served effectively.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Sales team so quotations and proposals are completed on time.
  • Track personal KPIs related to lead generation, lead recording, and lead status.
  • Update the CRM system accurately and completely, and carry out regular data-quality checks.
  • Report performance against sales metrics, KPIs, and targets to the Internal Sales Manager on a regular basis.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties relevant to the role.
  • Handle pricing information fairly and independently when quoting for both distributor and direct markets, ensuring that information from one source is not used to influence the other.
  • Take responsibility for health and safety for yourself and others in your area of control.

  • Competence with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
