About the Role
State of the Heart Recovery Inc. is a purpose-led addiction recovery and behavioral health organization that supports people through every stage of healing. In this Safety Specialist position, you will contribute to a secure, calm, and therapeutic setting that protects client well-being and keeps day-to-day operations running smoothly. You will work alongside clinical, operational, and behavioral-health teams to help maintain a respectful environment and reinforce safety practices.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe, organized, and therapeutically supportive atmosphere throughout the facilities.
- Encourage preventative safety habits, respectful communication, and effective facility support.
- Apply trauma-informed practices in routine interactions and safety-related tasks.
- Focus on awareness, prevention, and supportive engagement rather than a punitive or enforcement-driven approach.
- Partner with clinical, operational, and behavioral-health staff to uphold safety standards, assist with emergency response procedures, and support an environment that preserves client dignity and organizational stability.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Active Level 2 license issued by the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department.
- Valid driver's license and eligibility for insurance coverage under company driving policy.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Willingness to cover some night shifts or rotational schedules depending on business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in safety, security, or behavioral-health environments.
- Training or certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), trauma-informed care, or emergency preparedness.
- Training or certification in First Aid and CPR.
