Job description

Role overview

We are looking for a Safety Coordinator to support occupational health, fire safety, and incident prevention across the two factory locations in Ajman. The role involves hands-on inspection work, emergency response readiness, permit control, record keeping, and close coordination with internal teams and external visitors or contractors.

Key duties

  • Respond promptly to fire situations and other emergency cases.
  • Carry out daily checks of fire pumps and operate them weekly through the test line.
  • Inspect all areas regularly for unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, or safety breaches among staff and laborers, and report findings.
  • Review firefighting equipment, replace expired items, and report any damage.
  • Issue work permits for internal and external workers and monitor compliance until the task is complete.
  • Record and report any safety violations.
  • Check the fire alarm system every day.
  • Prepare maintenance requests and track them through completion.
  • Perform daily inspections, complete checklists, and document violations across all locations.
  • Coordinate scheduled visits from third parties for both factories and support them during their site visits.
  • Arrange safety equipment for departments through the commercial team and maintain proper issue/receipt stock records.
  • Investigate serious or critical injuries involving laborers, staff, or visitors, and support investigations into accidents or incidents causing significant damage to company property or vehicles.
  • Review and report complaints related to hazardous working conditions to the Head and Manager.
  • Carry out risk assessments, identify hazards, and recommend preventive controls.
  • Address employee safety concerns and follow up as needed.
  • Inspect any area of either factory whenever required.
  • Ensure first-aid boxes are fully stocked and maintain emergency supplies.
  • Manage filing and database records for confidential documents, correspondence, reports, and files.
  • Prepare routine letters, reports, memorandums, minutes, and related documentation.
  • Coordinate and communicate with all departments as well as employees and unionized labor.
  • Help build and sustain a strong safety culture across the organization.
  • Investigate incidents, recommend corrective actions, and keep detailed records.
  • Deliver safety inductions and presentations when needed.
  • Carry out any other tasks assigned by the line manager.

Qualifications and requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or diploma in a relevant field.
  • NEBOSH IGC certification or an equivalent credential.
  • Recognized health and safety qualification, preferably OSHA or IOSH.
  • ISO 45001 internal auditor certification.
  • Strong awareness of cultural diversity, teamwork, cooperation, accountability, customer focus, and results orientation.
  • Good problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and time-management abilities.
  • Comfortable using computers and MS Office tools.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of occupational health and safety management and HSSE requirements.
  • Knowledge of firefighting system inspections and operating conditions.
  • Process safety experience will be an added advantage.
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant experience.

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Ajman, Ajman Emirate, United Arab Emirates.

The role may involve emergency response duties, routine safety inspections, contractor coordination, and participation in audits, investigations, and training activities.
