Job Fair Information

The United States Postal Service is hosting job fairs for the Rural Carrier Associate (RCA) position. Walk-ins are welcome. Two events are scheduled: one on Friday, June 12th, 2026, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the EmployNV Career Hub, 2281 Pyramid Way, Sparks NV 89431, and another on Friday, June 26th, 2026, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the EmployNV Business Hub, 4001 S. Virginia St Suite 11, Reno, NV 89502. Registration for these events can be completed via provided links.

Position Overview

The Rural Carrier Associate (RCA) role is a full-time position located in Reno, Sparks, and surrounding areas. The work hours are variable, with availability typically required on Saturdays and other days as needed to cover for absent carriers. This is a non-career position that may offer a path to a career role.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sort mail according to delivery sequence for the assigned route.
  • Receive and acknowledge accountable mail.
  • Load mail into the delivery vehicle.
  • Deliver mail to customers along a designated route on a regular schedule.
  • Collect payments and receipts for accountable mail.
  • Pick up mail from customer roadside boxes.
  • Sell postal products such as stamps, stamped paper, and money orders.
  • Process C.O.D., registered, certified, and insured mail and parcels.
  • Provide general information about postal services and distribute necessary forms to customers.
  • Return undeliverable mail to the post office and submit collected funds and receipts.
  • Manage mail forwarding and maintain records of address changes.
  • Complete a daily trip report and keep an updated list of customers on the route.
  • Conduct special surveys as requested.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of stamps and stamped paper for customer service.
  • Ensure the security of mail at all times.

Physical Demands

This role is physically demanding, involving work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. Carriers may need to lift and move trays and containers of mail and parcels weighing up to 70 pounds.

Additional Information

A pre-employment drug screening and background check will be conducted by the employer. Applicants must possess a valid state driver's license, maintain a safe driving record, and have at least two years of unsupervised driving experience in passenger cars or larger vehicles. The driving experience must have occurred in the U.S., its possessions, or territories, or on U.S. military installations globally. A personal vehicle suitable for mail delivery may be required.

Following one year of continuous service (without a break exceeding 5 days), employees may become eligible for the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHB), dental and vision insurance via FEDVIP, flexible spending accounts through FSAFEDS, and long-term care insurance through FLTCIP.
