The work is based across metro and regional South Australia, and the standard hours are Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 15:36.
What the role involves
You will provide dependable, high-quality maintenance support across Eldercare’s sites, working as part of the Property Services team to maintain a safe, comfortable and well-kept setting for residents. The role also includes delivering responsive, respectful customer service that helps support resident wellbeing and satisfaction.
- Carry out a broad mix of practical maintenance tasks across residential aged care facilities and retirement living units, such as repairs, minor plumbing, painting, gardening and equipment maintenance.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with legal, regulatory and accreditation obligations, including fire safety requirements.
- Coordinate maintenance priorities, budgets and records with site teams, using the Maintenance Request System to log, monitor and report work.
- Assist with audits, share technical advice with staff and monitor contractor performance.
- Participate in the after-hours on-call maintenance roster, as agreed, for three one-week blocks each year.
What you will bring
Success in this position comes from a strong practical background, a collaborative mindset and genuine care for the people you support. The ideal person enjoys variety, works well independently and contributes positively to a team environment.
- Solid hands-on experience in maintenance, facilities work or general handyman tasks, with aged care experience regarded as an advantage.
- Confidence using IT systems and digital tools that support facilities operations.
- Working knowledge of Test & Tag procedures, or willingness to be trained if needed.
- A proactive, solution-oriented approach and a commitment to high standards.
- A friendly, service-led attitude when dealing with residents, staff and contractors.
- Good organisation and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage time across multiple sites.
- Comfort working alone as well as within a cooperative team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal ability for building respectful relationships across a varied workforce and resident community.
- Interest in developing your facilities management knowledge and technical capability.
