Role overview
Expotel Hospitality is recruiting Room Attendants for the Sheraton Galleria at 4 Galleria Blvd in Metairie, LA. This position focuses on keeping guest rooms presentable, clean, and well-stocked while delivering polite, efficient, and guest-focused service.
What you'll do
- Greet guests and coworkers in a professional, service-minded way.
- Follow the hotel’s attendance expectations based on the scheduled shift pattern.
- Maintain a neat personal appearance, including the required uniform and name tag.
- Work in line with company policies and hotel procedures to support safe, smooth operations.
- Keep a friendly, helpful, and courteous attitude throughout the shift.
- Clean guest rooms thoroughly to the required standard.
- Prepare housekeeping carts by loading guest supplies, cleaning supplies, and linens before cleaning begins.
- Clear trash and used linen from rooms and corridors.
- Keep hallways, shared areas, and closets tidy, clean, and vacuumed where applicable.
- Refill the housekeeping cart so it is ready for the next day.
- Top up chemical containers as needed.
- Clean rooms with the door shut unless a guest asks otherwise.
- Report missing room items such as irons, ironing boards, or hair dryers to the housekeeping supervisor or manager.
- Escalate maintenance issues promptly to the housekeeping supervisor or manager.
- Manage lost-and-found items according to hotel procedure.
- Attend required meetings and training sessions.
- Take on other tasks assigned by management.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
- Prior experience in a hotel or a similar environment is preferred.
- The job may involve long and flexible working hours.
- Physical ability to perform medium-level work, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving objects up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, or up to 20 pounds continuously.
- Ability to remain standing for the full shift.
- Clear communication skills for sharing information and ideas effectively.
- Strong judgment for choosing between options quickly and accurately.
- Comfort working under pressure in a fast-paced setting.
- Ability to handle workplace issues, including identifying and resolving problems proactively.
- Basic arithmetic and the ability to understand financial data.
- Good listening skills to understand and clarify concerns from guests and coworkers.
