Role Overview
The Robotics Data Collector role involves capturing high-quality robotic and egocentric data essential for training AI models. Responsibilities include working hands-on with robotic systems, sensors, and real-world environments to gather multimodal datasets such as video, motion, and interaction data. The ideal candidate is meticulous, has technical curiosity, and adapts well to lab and controlled real-world settings.
Primary Responsibilities
- Execute data collection by operating cameras (handheld, head-mounted, robot-mounted) and sensors (IMU, depth cameras).
- Follow predefined scenarios and protocols to accurately record actions, interactions, and environments.
- Assist in operating humanoid or mobile robotic systems during data collection phases.
- Set up and calibrate cameras, sensors, and recording devices ensuring they operate correctly during experiments.
- Review collected datasets for completeness, clarity, and accuracy; detect and report issues including missing data, recording mistakes, or sensor misalignment.
- Prepare and organize environments for data sessions, conducting tasks such as object manipulation, navigation, and human-robot interaction within specified instructions.
- Maintain meticulous documentation of sessions, equipment usage, encountered problems, and suggest improvements to data collection methods.
- Adhere strictly to lab safety protocols and operational procedures, managing robotic and sensor equipment responsibly and ensuring compliance with data privacy and security standards.
Required Qualifications
- Between zero and three years of experience in data collection, field operations, or lab contexts.
- Background in technical or hardware-related roles.
- Comfort working with cameras, sensors, recording devices, and basic computer systems.
- Strong attention to detail with the capacity to follow instructions accurately.
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience with robotic hardware or systems.
- Knowledge of egocentric or first-person data collection and AI or computer vision datasets.
- Basic grasp of robotics principles and sensor technologies.
