Job description

About the role

IAG is the largest general insurance group across Australia and New Zealand, with a purpose focused on helping make communities safer and insurance more accessible. In this position, you will join the Line 2 Risk Advisory and Assurance team as a Risk Advisory Specialist, supporting risk-informed decision-making through analysis, stakeholder engagement, and practical insight.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in either Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) or Ōtautahi (Christchurch). You will work with experienced professionals while developing your own capability and contributing to outcomes that support customers, communities, and the wider business.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with Senior Specialists to provide risk insights that align with IAG’s risk appetite, policies, and governance frameworks.
  • Assist in monitoring conduct and operational risk areas, including technology, third parties, business continuity, fraud, projects, and data, in line with relevant policies and standards.
  • Support the review of risk incidents and issues by collecting information, evaluating management responses, and flagging possible gaps.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and detailed reviews of specific risk classes by gathering information and recording observations.
  • Help strengthen risk maturity across the business by improving understanding of the risk management lifecycle through engagement and support.

What you should bring

  • Background in consulting, risk, governance, assurance, or a similar environment, with the ability to approach complex matters in a structured and thoughtful way.
  • Strong analytical judgement, including the ability to spot gaps, exposures, and areas of concern.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to challenge constructively, influence others, and ask effective questions.
  • A team-oriented attitude, with curiosity, willingness to learn, and a genuine desire to contribute.
  • Ability to interpret information and turn it into practical, easy-to-understand insights rather than relying solely on technical or data-heavy analysis.
  • Experience in financial services, insurance, or another regulated setting is an advantage, though not essential.

Benefits and perks

  • Boosted KiwiSaver with a 4.5% employer contribution, plus standard life insurance.
  • 25 days of leave in total, including 20 annual leave days and 5 MyLeave days for personal priorities.
  • Flexible working options, including work-from-home arrangements through myFlex.
  • Up to 50% discount on personal insurance policies, including home and motor cover.
  • Annual wellbeing payment of $500.
  • 14 weeks of paid parental leave.
  • Access to LinkedIn Learning, IAG Academy, study support, and secondment opportunities.

Additional information

This role includes eligibility criteria linked to employment type. Applications close on Friday 10 July 2026 at 11:59 PM NZST.
