Job description
Role Overview
This position sits within Bayer’s Crop Science division in Zambia and focuses on strengthening retailer partnerships to grow seed and crop protection business, especially in support of smallholder farmers. The role is centered on improving product access, driving order creation at retail level, and reinforcing the Bayer and Dekalb value proposition in the market.
Core Purpose
- Develop strong, prioritized relationships with retailers so the business can secure support and expand Bayer seed and crop protection sales, with a strong emphasis on smallholder farmer markets.
- Improve product availability for smallholder farmers by generating orders through retail channels and helping key dealers increase sell-out.
- Strengthen the value proposition for Bayer and Dekalb at the retail point of sale.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the customer-facing squad to deliver regional business objectives.
- Support the team in managing the regional P&L.
- Help deliver the region’s 90-day sales targets, including budget commitments.
- Identify the most important retailers in the area and build productive partnerships with them.
- Manage relationships with strategic retailers and ensure retail-level order generation that supports key dealer sales.
- Collaborate on the creation of annual regional sales and marketing plans.
- Connect retailer activity to broader regional sales and marketing initiatives.
- Drive delivery of monthly sales plans.
- Provide training at retail and point-of-sale locations.
- Review information shared by sales teams and turn it into practical regional sales and growth actions.
- Spot commercial opportunities and create approaches to capture them.
- Monitor volume and market-share gaps or trends and feed insights into regional strategy.
- Track competitor activity and market shifts, then share findings with the relevant support teams.

Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Agriculture and/or Business is required.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in crop agronomy, seed systems, and pest control practices.
- Previous sales experience is required.
- Strong understanding of agriculture and the local market environment.
- Ability to demonstrate Bayer’s core competencies: customer focus, results orientation, valuing differences, handling complexity, collaboration, and building trust.
- Capable of collaborating and communicating effectively with internal teams and external partners.
- Comfortable working in smallholder farmer markets.
- Fluent in English and local languages.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Highly motivated, creative, dynamic, and well organized.
