About Te Omanga Hospice

Role Overview
This is a permanent, full-time Retail Truck Driver position based in Lower Hutt, Wellington, New Zealand. The role focuses on the safe, efficient transport of furniture and other goods to and from multiple locations in support of the retail operation.
Key Duties
- Deliver a broad range of items to different addresses using various routes for the retail stores.
- Load, unload, prepare, inspect, and operate the delivery vehicle.
- Represent the organisation professionally while serving donors and customers, with a focus on dependable and timely service.
- Handle customer concerns quickly and effectively.
- Keep vehicles and equipment clean, tidy, and in sound working order.
- Carry out routine checks on vehicles and equipment to confirm they remain operational.
- Work cooperatively as a supportive member of the team.
- Follow occupational health and safety requirements at all times.
- Protect the dignity and privacy of customers and donors at all times.
Skills and Experience Needed
The ideal applicant will have prior customer service experience and understand how to work in a customer-focused way. A clean full Class A driver’s licence is required. The position also calls for the physical ability to move large and sometimes heavy items, including loads of up to 25 kg, using approved equipment supplied for the job. Strong computer skills and the ability to communicate with empathy and respect are also important.
