Role overview
Mitre 10 MEGA Papamoa is preparing to open a new store at The Sands later this year, and this is a chance to get involved from the beginning. The business is locally owned and operated, and the team is focused on delivering excellent service and practical support for customers. Recruitment is underway for 10 retail team members across the showroom, hardware, paint, seasonal, and power garden areas.
The available roles are a mix of full-time and part-time positions, with a total of 10 FTE across the team. Shifts will run for 20 to 40 hours each week over 3 to 5 days, and all roles include one weekend day. This opening is suited to people who want to help shape a brand-new MEGA store and contribute to a smooth, friendly shopping experience.
Key duties
- Greet shoppers, identify what they need, and direct them to the most suitable products or specialist support.
- Keep displays and shelves well presented by managing ticketing, product facing, shelf order, and promotional setups.
- Top up stock throughout the day and complete back-room pulls and replenishment tasks.
- Respond to product enquiries and use store devices or systems to check stock levels, product locations, and alternative options.
- Handle price adjustments and markdowns when required.
- Refer more detailed or complex customer issues to the right colleague or department without delay.
What you need to bring
- A strong customer service mindset with the ability to communicate clearly and listen carefully to customer needs.
- Good attention to detail, especially when it comes to presentation, signage, and ticketing accuracy.
- Flexibility and a willingness to learn new products, systems, and duties.
- A team-oriented attitude, plus a dependable and proactive approach to daily work.
- Comfort using basic digital tools or devices for stock checks, sales tasks, and training modules.
- Awareness of merchandising fundamentals such as ticketing, display standards, and planograms, or a genuine willingness to learn them.
- Willingness to build product knowledge and understand refund, exchange, and consumer law requirements.
