About the organisation

It speaks for traditional owners, native title holders and other Aboriginal people across the southern half of the Northern Territory, covering close to 780,000 square kilometres. Its work includes providing advice, advocacy and hands-on support so constituents can pursue their goals, care for their land, and defend their rights.

About the role

LM032 and LM044 are Aboriginal identified, ongoing full-time roles based in Alice Springs, Northern Territory. The starting level is CL 6, with pay beginning at $90,386 and rising to $103,828. The position is focused on improving employment outcomes for Indigenous community-based rangers by delivering workplace mentoring, personal and professional development support, and leadership in the design of mentoring programs.

What you will do

  • Support Indigenous community-based rangers through tailored workplace mentoring.
  • Provide guidance that strengthens both personal and professional development.
  • Help drive better employment outcomes for the ranger workforce.
  • Lead the strategic development of mentoring initiatives.
  • Contribute to new projects as the organisation expands and innovates.

Requirements

  • Applicants need relevant qualifications and must satisfy the essential selection criteria.
  • This is an Aboriginal identified position, and eligible Aboriginal applicants will receive priority consideration.
  • If an Aboriginal applicant is appointed, other non-Aboriginal candidates will not be assessed further.
  • Selected Aboriginal applicants must provide proof of eligibility before starting, such as a completed statutory declaration or a supporting statement from an appropriate Aboriginal organisation.
  • Mandatory requirements include an Ochre card (working with vulnerable people check), a national police clearance, and a valid driver’s licence.

Benefits

  • Attractive salary and benefits package, including 15.4% superannuation, five weeks of annual leave, and a Christmas shutdown period.
  • Salary packaging available up to $29,000 per year, depending on personal circumstances.
  • Ongoing district allowance of about $3,760 for a single person or $6,900 for someone with dependents.
  • Annual airfare allowance of approximately $1,560.
  • Relocation support for candidates moving to the region.
  • Subsidised, fully furnished accommodation for the first four months.
  • Support for professional growth, including First Aid and 4WD training provided by the employer.
  • Access to development opportunities and career progression in a growing organisation.
  • The chance to work in a diverse setting where the role contributes to meaningful change.

Additional information

The total package includes base salary, district allowance, superannuation, leave loading, relocation assistance, annual airfare allowance, and salary packaging options. Salary progression is based on satisfactory performance and follows annual increments set out in the enterprise agreement.
