Job Description

The Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the comprehensive installation, maintenance, repair, and servicing of all refrigeration and air-conditioning systems within the hotel. This encompasses a wide range of equipment, including walk-in coolers, freezers, kitchen chillers, guest room minibars, and general HVAC units. The role ensures that all systems function optimally, safely, and adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of various refrigeration systems, such as walk-in freezers, cold rooms, chillers, and minibar units.
  • Execute regular preventive maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration equipment to guarantee peak operational efficiency.
  • Identify and resolve system malfunctions, replacing faulty components like compressors, motors, thermostats, and fan motors.
  • Maintain detailed records of all repair activities, maintenance schedules, and refrigerant consumption in compliance with environmental laws.
  • Undertake the installation of new refrigeration systems in kitchen, restaurant, and storage areas as needed.
  • Oversee and ensure the consistent, proper functioning of the hotel's air-conditioning units.
  • Contribute to energy conservation initiatives by optimizing system performance and suggesting improvements for efficiency.
  • Adhere strictly to all hotel safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Address guest and departmental maintenance requests with promptness and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with external service providers for significant repair projects when required.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a Diploma or technical certification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or a closely related discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years of professional experience in a comparable role, with a preference for experience within the hospitality sector.
  • Demonstrated in-depth understanding of commercial refrigeration systems and HVAC equipment.
  • EPA certification or an equivalent qualification for handling refrigerants, if mandated by local regulations.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical blueprints and manuals.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and participate in on-call rotations as necessary.
