Job description
About the Company
Smart Energy has grown from a small Byron Bay warehouse operation into one of Australia’s fastest-rising home electrification businesses. The company works across solar, battery storage, carbon-neutral energy solutions, EV chargers, and virtual power plants, and continues to expand rapidly.
People are central to that growth, and the business is now looking for a strong recruiter to help support the next stage of expansion.
About the Role
This is a hands-on, end-to-end recruitment position based in Byron Bay. You will help hire the people who support the company’s national growth across 18 sales offices in Australia, including lead generators, future specialists, and sales leaders.
The role suits someone who enjoys working with people, can perform well in a busy environment, and wants to contribute to a business that is actively reshaping how Australia is powered.
Work location: This position is fully onsite at the Byron Bay head office in the industrial estate. Work is required Monday to Friday, and candidates should already be living in the Northern Rivers region.
Key Responsibilities
- Support expansion by recruiting strong candidates for national sales teams.
- Use recruitment tools and ATS platforms, including Lever, to identify and shortlist talent.
- Speak with junior sales candidates across Australia and explain the role and opportunity.
- Arrange and confirm both group and one-to-one interviews, helping attendance run smoothly.
- Keep hiring managers informed with regular updates throughout the recruitment process.
- Carry out early-stage screening checks to confirm candidate compliance.
- Communicate offers, congratulate successful applicants, and coordinate onboarding steps.
- Create fresh, effective job ads and source candidates through creative hiring approaches.
- Contribute ideas in a start-up environment that values openness, innovation, and initiative.
What You Bring
- Previous experience in recruitment or talent acquisition, or a background in B2C, field sales, direct sales, or telesales with an interest in moving into recruitment.
- Comfort using Google Sheets and other workplace technology.
- Strong confidence, motivation, resilience, and clear communication skills.
- A sense of ownership and accountability when delivering against hiring needs.
- A proactive mindset with strong attention to detail and a focus on filling roles efficiently.
Why Join Smart Energy
- Friday drinks and pub lunches.
- A young, energetic team with a strong work-hard, play-hard culture.
- An annual Christmas party held in Byron or Sydney.
- Clear progression pathways plus ongoing support and training.
- A collaborative team environment that balances high performance with fun.
- A fast-growing start-up culture that actively encourages new ideas and open discussion.
- Opportunity to join an award-winning business that is well resourced and growing quickly in the Australian energy market.
Additional Information
The business reports 115% growth this year and expects further career opportunities as expansion continues. The role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in a company with strong momentum and a clear growth trajectory.
Applicants should be ready to work in a dynamic, ambitious environment and be prepared for a long-term opportunity with room to progress.
