Job description
About the Role
This position is for a practical, people-focused Recruiter / HR Coordinator who will help keep hiring and HR operations running smoothly for a growing industrial business. The role is based entirely in the Fort Saskatchewan facility and includes regular travel between the Fort Saskatchewan and Nisku sites as business needs change. The successful person will report to the HR Manager in Calgary and may occasionally travel within Alberta.
Recruitment and Hiring
- Manage support activities across the full hiring cycle for field and shop positions such as operators, labourers, and drivers.
- Publish job advertisements, review applicants, and organize interview schedules with hiring managers.
- Complete first-round phone conversations and carry out reference verification.
- Keep candidate lists current and monitor recruitment progress.
- Help hiring leaders make prompt and informed recruitment choices.
Onboarding and Orientation
- Coordinate onboarding activities for new employees at both the Fort Saskatchewan and Nisku locations.
- Make sure employment paperwork, payroll documents, and compliance items are completed.
- Arrange and monitor pre-employment steps such as drug and alcohol testing and required tickets.
- Work alongside Safety and Operations teams to create a smooth onboarding experience.
HR Administration
- Keep employee information accurate and up to date in the HRIS and shared files.
- Prepare offer letters, employment agreements, and day-to-day employee communications.
- Support benefits enrollment and handle general HR questions from employees.
- Track employee documents, certifications, and renewal dates.
- Assist with audits and help maintain compliance with company policies and Alberta employment standards.
Operational Support
- Act as a contact point for employees and supervisors for basic HR matters.
- Help coordinate workforce needs and onboarding schedules between branches.
- Support HR initiatives and process improvements when required.
Qualifications and Experience
The role calls for at least 1 year of recruitment experience, 1 year of administration experience in any field, and 3 years of experience using Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Outlook, and Teams. A valid driver’s license and dependable transportation are required for travel between locations.
Experience in recruitment or HR administration for 1 to 3 years is preferred. A diploma or degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Business, or Administration is considered an advantage. Background in industrial, construction, or other field-based environments is also valued, along with experience supporting new hire orientations, SharePoint, and HRIS systems.

Work Location
This is an in-person role based in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, with travel between Fort Saskatchewan and Nisku as needed.
