About the Role
Lev Senior Living is seeking an energetic and experienced Recreation Manager to join our team in Scarborough, Ontario. This full-time, permanent position reports directly to the General Manager. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about creating meaningful experiences for residents and fostering a supportive team environment. Responsibilities
- Assess residents' recreational needs and interests through direct interaction.
- Develop, promote, and implement creative and innovative recreation programs and special events aligned with wellness dimensions and resident needs.
- Recruit, orient, train, assign, and recognize team members, volunteers, and co-op students involved in the recreation program.
- Collaborate closely with all team members and volunteers to foster a cohesive approach to running successful recreational programs and team meetings.
- Manage and motivate volunteers, ensuring their genuine involvement in activities.
- Maintain strong relationships and effective communication with residents, caregivers, volunteers, team members, and community partners.
- Handle occasional evening, weekend, and scheduled manager-on-duty shifts (one in eight weekends).
Requirements
- Post-secondary diploma in Recreation Therapy, Recreation and Leisure, or an equivalent qualification.
- Demonstrated experience in a related field.
- Previous leadership experience is essential.
- Possession of a valid G driver's license with a clean driving abstract.
- Ability to obtain a current criminal reference check, including a vulnerable sector screen.
- SmartServe certification must be obtained prior to the start date.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general technology.
Additional Information
- Experience in memory care programming is considered an asset.
- Certification in behavioral training courses such as GPA, P.I.E.C.E.S, or DementiAbilities is an asset.
- First Aid and CPR-C certification is an asset.
- The ability to demonstrate leadership and motivate team members and volunteers is crucial.
- Strong decision-making and creative problem-solving skills, while respecting resident choices and adhering to policies.
- Excellent organizational, flexibility, coordination, and planning abilities.
- Effective English communication, writing, and reading skills.
- A caring and compassionate attitude when interacting with residents, team members, volunteers, and external participants.
