Job description

Role overview

Rangers are responsible for protecting and managing Queensland’s national parks, state forests and reserves so these places remain accessible, appreciated and well cared for. The role works closely with communities and stakeholders to deliver land management, recreation and conservation outcomes in line with relevant legislation. It also includes a broad mix of operational duties that are suitable for people without a trade background.

Location details

This opportunity is available in two locations. The Southern Downs area based in Toowoomba oversees 18,257 hectares of protected areas and 238,234 hectares of state forests. In this location, the position supports the Ranger in Charge, helps coordinate on-ground work and contributes to leading a Toowoomba-based team.

The Lockyer area based in Gatton manages around 50,000 hectares, including Glen Rock and Main Range National Park. In this location, the role supports everyday operations and assists with team leadership.

Across both locations, the emphasis is on coordinating day-to-day management as well as strategic projects.

  • Coach and support a varied workforce to build capability and encourage collaboration.
