Job description
About the opportunity
Arup is looking for a Qualified Person (Supervision) with a Structural/Civil background to help ensure construction activities follow approved drawings, legal requirements, and the company’s technical quality standards while protecting public safety and the design vision.
This appointment will be on an independent contractor basis.
Key responsibilities
- Work under the Construction Package Manager within the project delivery setup, while remaining responsible to Arup leadership and the Arup QP.
- Carry out supervision duties in line with the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) requirements for Qualified Person (Supervision), covering structural, geotechnical, and architectural works where relevant.
- Visit the site regularly to check that works match approved structural plans and meet regulatory, quality, safety, and environmental expectations.
- Spot, record, and escalate defects, deviations, or site concerns that need QP attention or regulatory review, and offer technical input when needed.
- Keep detailed supervision documentation and submit weekly written updates covering findings, risks, corrective actions, and upcoming priorities, while helping coordinate with contractors and authorities.

Requirements
- A degree recognised by the Professional Engineers Board, along with registration with BCA and the Joint Accreditation Committee of IES and ACES (JAC [IES and ACES]).
- At least 5 years of experience performing duties under the BCA Guidelines for Qualified Person (Supervision), including structural, geotechnical, and architectural supervision.
- Strong knowledge of Singapore civil and structural regulations and building codes, with the ability to solve site and technical issues effectively.
- Proven ability to prepare detailed progress reports, manage records, and support Resident Engineers during supervision work.
- Strong communication and coordination skills, good Microsoft Office proficiency, and a collaborative attitude with the drive to develop broader civil engineering expertise.
