Role overview
Pacific National is seeking an accredited Locomotive Driver to join its intermodal rail operations at the Brisbane Freight Terminal in Willawong, Queensland. This is a permanent full-time position within a 24/7 rail environment, focused on moving freight safely and reliably across the network.
As Australia’s largest private rail freight operator, Pacific National supports the movement of critical freight including coal, intermodal containers, steel, and bulk commodities that keep the country moving.
What you will be doing
- Driving Pacific National locomotives in line with safe working procedures and driver accreditation standards.
- Working with Train Control to support smooth train movements and on-time running.
- Preparing locomotives for service, carrying out checks, and completing required compliance records.
- Handling minor maintenance tasks and basic servicing duties.
- Communicating with internal teams and external customers to support day-to-day operational requirements.
What you need
- You must already be a qualified and accredited locomotive driver.
- A Certificate IV in Train Driving should be attached during the application process.
- Previous hands-on locomotive driving experience is required.
- A strong focus on safety and compliance is essential.
- You should be comfortable working independently as well as within a team.
- Basic computer skills are needed for operational tasks and documentation.
- A current full motor vehicle licence is required.
- You must be willing to work a rotating 24/7 roster, including local and barracks-based work.
