Role Overview
This position focuses on quality control and counterfeit detection for electronic components in a laboratory environment. The role involves inspection, testing, reporting, and coordination with internal teams and external service providers to maintain product quality and lab standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Create laboratory work instructions related to testing methods.
- Carry out visual checks on electronic components.
- Use microscopes and unaided inspection to confirm that components meet manufacturer specifications and are free from physical damage.
- Apply alcohol swipe and scrape testing to identify black-topped products.
- Look for warning signs that may point to suspected counterfeit parts.
- Run and care for lab instruments and perform tests such as XRF, X-RAY, microscopy, decapsulation, solderability, curve tracing, and C-SAM.
- Work with third-party calibration and test houses for equipment calibration, maintenance, and any extra customer testing needs.
- Support lab activities connected to ISO 17025 systems and customer audits.
- Use the company’s internal system to document the full inspection process and upload supporting records, including test results.
- Prepare test reports promptly and ensure all work follows industry standards and customer testing requirements.
- Escalate discrepancies to the relevant stakeholders.
- Track laboratory operations and test turnaround times.
- Report unusual incidents to management.
Experience and Competencies
- At least 3 years of experience in component or product inspection, testing, or counterfeit detection.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Comfort working in a busy, fast-moving laboratory setting.
- Excellent analytical ability and close attention to detail.
- Good multitasking and organizational skills.
- Exposure to electronics distribution is beneficial.
- Knowledge of ESD controls and ISO 17025 laboratory systems is an advantage.
