About the Role
This opportunity is designed for professionals in Mechanical Engineering or related fields, with a preference for candidates holding a B.E, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or an MBA in Operations or Supply Chain. The role focuses on overseeing procurement processes related to mechanical components and coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure seamless supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, evaluate, and develop new suppliers for mechanical items including steel, fabrication, hydraulics, motors, gearboxes, fasteners, and bearings.
- Conduct vendor negotiations to achieve cost reduction and favorable contract terms.
- Manage purchase orders from issuance to tracking timely delivery, liaising with logistics and accounts departments.
- Float Requests for Quotations (RFQs), engage in technical discussions with vendors, and negotiate pricing, quality, and delivery schedules.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQ), and conduct rate analysis for upcoming projects and tenders.
- Collaborate with Quality Control and Engineering teams to review material specifications, drawings, and address rejection issues.
- Coordinate with Planning and Store teams for accurate material requirement planning to prevent stock shortages and excess inventory.
- Ensure timely procurement to meet project site deadlines and manage urgent dispatch of materials when needed.
- Maintain comprehensive vendor databases, manage rate contracts, develop comparison sheets, and prepare Management Information System (MIS) reports.
Preferred Skills and Tools
- Proficiency with SAP or Oracle procurement modules.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
- Ability to read AutoCAD drawings (advantageous).
Additional Information
The candidate should possess strong knowledge of mechanical components, fabrication processes, machining, hydraulics, sheet metal, and steel structures. Excellence in vendor negotiation, understanding of Incoterms, and contract management is essential.
