Job description
Role overview
Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust’s NHS Talking Therapies service is seeking qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners to join a team that supports people in making positive changes to reduce anxiety, lower stress, and improve overall wellbeing. The service includes PWPs, Cognitive Behavioural Therapists, and Counsellors who deliver a range of interventions for common mental health difficulties.
The post is aimed at applicants who already hold the required qualifications. Candidates without these credentials will not be shortlisted.
The service provides screening, assessment, and treatment for mild to moderate mental health concerns, with flexible options such as psycho-education, group-based support, and one-to-one work. The role also involves building links with GP practices and local communities.
Main purpose of the post
You will deliver high-quality Talking Therapies support to people aged 16 and above who are experiencing common mental health conditions, including depression and anxiety disorders. The role requires independent working within professional standards and team policies, while following NICE guidance and meeting agreed activity targets and key performance indicators.
You will also offer advice and consultation to clients’ carers and other professionals, help promote wellbeing and social inclusion, and may support or supervise Band 4 practitioners where appropriate. Clinical contacts must be completed at the level agreed with the Team Lead.
Working arrangements
The post requires flexibility to meet service demand and may involve early morning and late evening appointments. Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust is open to flexible working patterns, including term-time working, part-time hours, compressed hours, and flexi-time.
Development and specialisms
Team members are encouraged to develop specialist interests through champion roles, which may include long-term conditions, young people, safeguarding, LGBTQ+, older adults, and drugs and alcohol.
Equality, inclusion, and wellbeing
The Trust values diversity and actively welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds. It particularly encourages interest from under-represented groups and from people with lived experience relevant to the role or service area. The organisation also places strong emphasis on staff wellbeing and provides a range of resources and support to help employees maintain a healthy work-life balance.
