Job description

Role overview

Mortgage Advice Bureau (MAB) is seeking a motivated Protection Specialist to join its Portsmouth-based team. This is a full-time opportunity that can be structured as either employed or self-employed, with remote or hybrid working options available. The business is known for its strong reputation in mortgage advice, award-winning service, and a partnership model designed to support growth.

The position offers competitive earning potential, with expected on-target earnings in the region of £60,000 to £70,000, plus uncapped commission.

What you will do

  • Advise clients on a broad range of protection solutions such as life cover, critical illness cover, income protection, and family income benefit.
  • Partner with mortgage advisers and customers to assess needs and recommend suitable protection options.
  • Deliver advice that meets compliance requirements and aligns with MAB’s standards.
  • Develop strong client relationships through trust, service quality, and ongoing support.

What the role offers

  • Warm, high-quality leads from an established mortgage customer base.
  • A supportive working culture with continued training and professional development.
  • The chance to work with a nationally recognised brand and one of MAB’s top-performing business partners in the UK.
  • Flexible earning structure with uncapped income potential and both employed and self-employed arrangements available.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate will already have experience in protection advice, with at least one year preferred. You should have strong product knowledge, a sound understanding of the current protection market, and a clear commitment to ethical client outcomes. Excellent communication, active listening, and relationship-building skills are also important. A CeMAP or equivalent protection-related qualification, such as RO5, is required.
