Job description
Role overview
The Local Project is looking for a driven and commercially aware editor to help shape and protect the editorial quality of its property and real estate channel, On The Local Market. This position sits within the Editorial team, with close collaboration across Commercial and CEO stakeholders, and plays a central role in maintaining the premium voice, credibility, and visual standard of every property feature as the platform grows across Australia and the United States.
This is a hands-on editorial role for someone who wants to sharpen their craft, build pace, and grow with the platform over the next 12 to 24 months. The role is based in Sydney, with Melbourne also preferred as a location.
Editorial standards and tone
- Set and uphold the editorial benchmark for every OTLM touchpoint, including property copy, story concepts, and social content, so the brand’s premium positioning remains intact.
- Work in sync with the Editor of The Local Project to ensure the OTLM voice aligns naturally with the wider editorial identity.
- Review briefs from developers and agents before production begins, making sure all content meets the brand’s editorial expectations.
Publishing and content cadence
- Coordinate with the Digital team to manage the OTLM publishing calendar and keep the channel consistently active and visible.
- Produce a strong volume of content for Instagram, EDMs, newsletters, and related distribution channels.
- Research, organise, and draft editorial features and deep-dives focused on standout properties, architecture trends, and major design movements.
- Use AI tools as a productivity aid for tasks such as listing summaries, social copy, and EDM drafts, then apply editorial judgment to refine the final output for tone, clarity, and polish.
Commercial judgment and collaboration
- Differentiate clearly between editorially driven coverage and commercial opportunities such as paid partnerships and listings.
- Serve as the connection point between Editorial and Partnerships by passing suitable organic developer leads to the commercial team and flagging exceptional paid listings that deserve organic amplification.
What you will need
- Experience working in editorial roles related to architecture, premium property, luxury design, or similar design-led media.
- A refined writing style that can match The Local Project’s pace, authority, and tone.
- Strong organisation and the ability to consistently deliver large volumes of digital content without missing deadlines.
- Practical experience using AI tools to speed up routine copy work while keeping human editorial quality front and centre.
- Excellent people skills, with a collaborative approach to sharing credit and information across teams.
Nice to have
- Existing contacts among luxury real estate agents, premium developers, or residential architects.
- Comfort working with light commercial framing and an understanding of how editorial quality supports commercial growth in a premium media business.
- Confidence representing the brand at industry events or panel discussions.
Additional information
Location preference is Sydney or Melbourne. The role is designed for someone looking to build momentum over a 12 to 24 month period while helping establish and protect the editorial spine of the property vertical.
