Job description

Overview

McCain Foods is hiring a seasoned Project Manager to join its Supply Chain Excellence team. This role is centered on leading complex, cross-functional supply chain initiatives across North America, including new distribution center launches, third-party logistics integrations, and network optimization work. You will manage each stage of the project lifecycle, from building the business case through post-project review, while handling budgets above $3M and coordinating internal teams, vendors, and external partners to deliver results on schedule and within budget.

The company looks for people who are ambitious, curious, and motivated by creating strong work experiences together. A customer-first approach is essential, with a focus on making business easier for customers and improving service outcomes through supply chain transformation.

Key Responsibilities

This position involves leading major warehouse openings, distribution center transitions, and network redesign projects across North America. You will work closely with teams in plant operations, engineering, planning, finance, and other functions, as well as 3PLs, equipment suppliers, and contractors, to ensure safe and effective project delivery.

You will also develop detailed business cases for major initiatives, perform cost-benefit and ROI analysis, and guide approval processes. The role requires defining scope, milestones, KPIs, and success measures, then controlling scope changes through formal change management.

On the execution side, you will build and manage project schedules, RACI charts, risk logs, and issue trackers using project management tools. You will run meetings, document decisions, coordinate accountability, monitor progress against time, budget, and quality targets, and lead post-mortem reviews to drive future improvements.

Another important part of the role is stakeholder communication. You will maintain strong working relationships with senior leaders, internal partners, and vendors, while clearly reporting status, risks, and decisions across all levels of the business.

You will also support team growth by coaching analysts and project team members, encouraging ownership and continuous improvement, and keeping operational changes aligned with customer experience and service impact.

Required Qualifications

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or Information Systems, along with at least 3 years of project management experience in supply chain, logistics, or distribution operations.

A PMP certification or an equivalent credential such as CAPM, Prince2, or Agile/Scrum is required or strongly expected. Candidates should have experience managing cross-functional projects with budgets of at least $1M, strong capability with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Project, and advanced Excel skills are preferred.

Strong analytical ability is important, especially for cost-benefit analysis, ROI modeling, and data-based decision-making. The role also calls for excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present effectively to senior leadership. Candidates must be willing and able to travel up to 40%.

Preferred Background

Experience with SAP IBP/APO, S/4HANA, or other ERP and supply chain planning systems is an advantage. Familiarity with E2Open TMS, Manhattan WMS, or similar transportation and warehouse management systems is also useful.

Additional strengths include experience with Power BI or Tableau, a background in food manufacturing, CPG, or refrigerated/cold chain distribution, Lean or Six Sigma certification, and prior work in 3PL management, contract logistics, or distribution center startups.

Competencies

The role calls for full project lifecycle management, strong cross-functional leadership, supply chain operations knowledge, risk mitigation, vendor management, change management, continuous improvement, financial analysis, and executive-level communication.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary range for this position is CAD 81,600 to CAD 108,900, and the role is eligible for a bonus. Final compensation will depend on experience, skills, education, training, and organizational needs.

Employees may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage, retirement savings support, leave benefits such as medical, family, and bereavement leave, as well as vacation, holidays, volunteer time, and mental health resources. Benefit coverage can vary based on country, province or state rules, work level, location, and the nature of the role.

This posting is for an existing vacancy. The role is part of the Supply Chain & Logistics job family and is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with an additional location listed in Florenceville-Bristol, New Brunswick, Canada.
