About the Role
The American Diabetes Association is hiring a Project Manager to join its Program Management Office. In this position, you will own the day-to-day coordination of multiple mission-driven projects that aim to improve the lives of people affected by diabetes. You will manage project scope, budgets, schedules, teams, stakeholders, vendors, and contractual commitments, while helping strengthen PMO processes, improve efficiency, and keep work aligned with organizational goals.
Reporting to the Program Director, this role supports consistent project delivery, collaboration across departments, and accountability for outcomes that advance the organization’s mission.
Responsibilities
- Guide cross-functional teams so projects are completed on schedule and within approved budgets.
- Allocate resources effectively and clarify ownership for tasks and milestones.
- Work closely with development and marketing teams to share training and information needed to support fundraising efforts for new projects, programs, and systems.
- Oversee project execution, including scope, budget, timeline, staffing, stakeholders, vendors, and contractual deliverables.
- Take responsibility for project outcomes and support contract renewals that help expand the organization’s offerings.
- Act as a point of coordination between internal teams, external stakeholders, volunteers, customers, and vendors.
- Keep process documentation current and look for opportunities to improve workflows across organizational initiatives.
- Apply quality management and change management practices to project work.
- Estimate and plan project resources, timelines, and budgets with accuracy.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree is required.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in project management or in delivering programs, products, or services.
- PMP certification is preferred.
- Working knowledge of project management frameworks such as PMBOK.
- Hands-on experience with project management tools such as MS Project or Smartsheet.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving environment with a strong sense of urgency.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to manage complex initiatives.
- Excellent problem-solving capability.
- Solid change management skills.

- Base pay for this position is expected to be between $68,000 and $72,000, depending on factors such as relevant experience, education, certifications, location, and internal pay equity.
