Job description

About the organization

The hiring organization is a purpose-led research, evaluation, and strategy firm that helps public, nonprofit, academic, and community-focused groups make better decisions using evidence, data, and thoughtful engagement. Its work is centered on learning, accountability, equity, and measurable impact.

Role overview

This position is for an organized and self-directed Project Manager who can coordinate several research and evaluation efforts at once, from early proposal work through final delivery. The role is best suited to someone who enjoys creating structure, improving systems, and keeping multi-stakeholder projects moving smoothly.

As the main coordination point, you will work with leadership, researchers, evaluators, consultants, and outside partners to keep projects on track, within scope, and aligned with standards for quality, ethics, privacy, and data handling.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple research and evaluation projects from kickoff through final handoff.
  • Contribute to proposals, scopes of work, staffing plans, budgets, and project work plans.
  • Create and maintain schedules, timelines, Gantt charts, task trackers, and milestone plans.
  • Break down work into tasks to support sequencing, resource planning, and workload forecasts.
  • Coordinate day-to-day execution across internal teams, consultants, and external collaborators.
  • Watch project health, flag risks or delays early, and help put corrective actions in place.
  • Track milestones, deliverables, and required reporting items.
  • Support quality checks for deliverables, evaluation outputs, and data collection tools.
  • Keep project records accurate, well organized, and easy to access.
  • Run weekly project meetings, prepare agendas, capture notes, and follow up on action items.
  • Help maintain clear communication across project teams so responsibilities and deadlines stay aligned.
  • Draft status updates, summaries, and reports for leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Support onboarding and coordination for consultants, contractors, interns, and other project contributors.
  • Maintain project systems, templates, workflows, and reporting tools.
  • Look for ways to improve efficiency, communication, and project management practices.
  • Support data governance, documentation standards, and knowledge management efforts.
  • Follow ethical guidelines, privacy expectations, confidentiality requirements, and relevant organizational policies.

Required qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Business, Project Management, Research, or a similar area, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 3 years of project management experience in research, evaluation, consulting, nonprofit, academic, public sector, or similar settings.
  • Proven ability to manage schedules, work plans, deliverables, and stakeholder communications.
  • Strong organizational ability and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent writing, speaking, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Comfort handling several priorities and deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience working with confidential information and supporting privacy, compliance, or ethical requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with project management tools such as Monday.com, Airtable, Asana, Smartsheet, ClickUp, or comparable platforms.

Preferred qualifications

  • A master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Background supporting research, evaluation, or other data-informed initiatives.
  • Familiarity with community-based research, equity-centered evaluation, or public sector work.
  • Experience creating proposals, reports, presentations, and client-facing materials.
  • Knowledge of data governance, performance measurement, or evaluation frameworks.

Why consider this role

You’ll join a collaborative environment that values learning, innovation, equity, and impact. The work offers a chance to help shape projects that improve decision-making, strengthen organizations, and support meaningful outcomes for communities and stakeholders.

If you enjoy bringing order to complex work, building better systems, and helping deliver high-quality project outcomes, this opportunity may be a strong fit.
