Role overview
Wood is inviting expressions of interest for an Offshore Project Manager to support its Qatar operations. This position sits within the Doha office and contributes to study, FEED, EPC and PMC assignments. The role is accountable for delivering project work in line with the agreed execution plan and all relevant Wood and project procedures, while protecting safety, quality, budget and schedule targets.
The office is focused on both brownfield and greenfield opportunities, and preference is given to professionals with experience in onshore and offshore oil and gas environments.
Key responsibilities
- Lead by example in Wood’s and the client’s HSE and quality culture, promote intervention when unsafe conditions are seen, and ensure procedures are consistently followed.
- Direct, coordinate and control project activities from start to finish.
- Deliver projects in line with corporate standards and approved project procedures.
- Create and implement the project execution plan and project schedule in accordance with company and contract requirements.
- Take ownership of the HSSE and quality plan and drive its implementation.
- Manage the project budget and keep work within approved cost limits.
- Maintain a strong focus on customer care and client feedback.
- Understand the project business case and key drivers.
- Serve as the main point of contact for engineering, procurement and project services resources assigned to the project.
- Work closely with client representatives to make sure client interests are addressed.
- Clearly communicate project goals and team structure to the wider project team.
- Provide regular performance updates and work progress information to the company.
- Track and expedite project accounts receivable.
- Record lessons learned and apply learnings from other projects.
- Complete project close-out activities.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
- 15 to 20 years of relevant experience.
- Additional project management education or certification such as PMP or APM is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools for documents, presentations, trackers and schedules.
- Self-driven, proactive and highly motivated, with strong attention to detail and the ability to take initiative.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to interpret contract terms, identify delays and raise change or commercial issues early.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to guide multi-discipline teams toward timely delivery.
- Extensive experience in risk and change management across the full project lifecycle, ideally covering both design and site execution.
- Background across multiple project phases, including concept/feasibility, pre-FEED, FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, start-up and warranty.
- Proven experience handling lump-sum contracts for engineering work in the oil and gas sector; Qatar experience is preferred.
- Ability to lead in a challenging environment and make sound decisions.

- Experience working away from technical leadership personnel, while functional leadership remains in the Doha office.
- Experience in a small project office and across cross-discipline tasks beyond a core discipline.
- Willingness and ability to represent Wood in onshore and offshore surveys, including relevant certification or training such as BOSIET and H2S Awareness.
- Strong written and spoken English skills and the ability to interpret and communicate complex scope and contract documents.
Preferred background
The ideal candidate will bring multi-skilled offshore project management experience, particularly from onshore and offshore oil and gas environments, and will be comfortable working across both brownfield and greenfield scopes.
