Role Overview
Peepul is looking for a Project Manager for its Gender Mainstreaming work in Madhya Pradesh. The role supports the Programme Manager – Gender (based in Delhi) with research, coordination, and day-to-day operations. It focuses on carrying forward gender-focused initiatives, capacity-building efforts, monitoring, reporting, and coordination with key stakeholders. This position offers practical exposure to advancing gender equity within education programmes and across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the integration of gender-responsive and inclusive practices into programme activities and operational processes.
- Help review classroom practices, community settings, and learning materials through a gender and inclusion perspective.
- Provide administrative and logistical assistance for gender-related initiatives.
- Gather and manage gender- and sex-disaggregated programme data.
- Maintain trackers, dashboards, and progress reports related to the gender action plan.
- Contribute to reporting for donors and leadership on gender initiatives.
- Coordinate workshops, sensitisation sessions, and training programmes on gender equity.
- Prepare documentation, case studies, and awareness content that showcase gender integration work.
- Support internal and external communication around gender-focused initiatives.
- Work with internal teams to collect inputs for gender-related projects.
- Coordinate with external consultants, partners, and government stakeholders.
- Assist in tracking deliverables, budgets, and timelines for projects.
- Help ensure timely and smooth execution of activities under the Gender Policy and Action Plan.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should understand how gender connects with poverty, caste, disability, geography, and other forms of exclusion, and should be able to use this understanding to reduce barriers to learning, participation, and development. The role also calls for a self-driven professional who can work independently, take initiative, and lead efforts in a dynamic environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, International Development, or a related discipline is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
- 4–6 years of relevant project management experience, preferably with exposure to gender mainstreaming, social inclusion, or equity-oriented programmes.
- Good understanding of gender concepts, intersectionality, frameworks, and tools used in government contexts, along with familiarity with the Indian education system, is highly desirable.
- Strong written and spoken English skills, with local language ability if relevant to the role.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to build trust and influence diverse groups.
- A proactive, dependable, collaborative approach and a willingness to learn.
- Language requirement: English and Hindi.
