Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Construction Project Manager for our Wellington office to oversee multiple projects from planning to completion. The role requires ensuring projects meet safety standards, timelines, budgets, and quality benchmarks. Collaboration with consultants and internal teams is key to achieving integrated solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Control project scope, budgets, schedules, and quality assurance.
  • Lead coordination with consultants during the design phase.
  • Develop procurement documents and manage contractor tendering.
  • Oversee construction contract administration throughout project execution.
  • Conduct project meetings and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Handle project risks, requests for information, variations, and defect management.
  • Track budgets and timelines while preparing regular progress reports.
  • Collaborate closely with internal design and quantity surveying teams.
  • Assist in refining company systems, templates, and project delivery processes.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of three years’ experience managing construction projects in New Zealand.
  • Background in commercial, educational, or public sector construction projects.
  • Possession of a construction-related tertiary qualification or relevant industry experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in New Zealand (no visa sponsorship offered).
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
  • Good understanding of New Zealand construction contracts, procurement, and consenting procedures.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management capabilities.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects effectively.
  • Proficient with cloud-based project management software and strong computer skills.
  • Experience with Ministry of Education or public sector projects is a plus but not mandatory.
  • A proactive, positive approach with a commitment to teamwork and support.
