Role overview
Kaltenberg Designs and Fitout is looking for a Project Engineer specializing in fit-out delivery in Dubai. The role focuses on coordinating the day-to-day execution of turnkey interior projects while keeping work aligned with budget, schedule, drawings, quality expectations, and UAE safety requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the full execution of fit-out projects so that work stays within the agreed cost and time targets, and participate in project review discussions to track progress.
- Hold regular weekly discussions with the production coordinator and design team to review project status, blockers, and upcoming actions.
- Attend site meetings to confirm the scope of work and ensure all parties have a common understanding of requirements.
- Review, coordinate, and where necessary join site surveys before production begins, so that drawings can be validated against actual site conditions.
- Inspect sites to assess the condition and usability of facilities and structures.
- Prepare project schedules and keep them updated as work progresses.
- Organize site activities efficiently to support timely project completion.
- Track site progress and verify that execution matches approved designs and specifications.
- Support material planning and procurement so that project needs are met without delay.
- Check that delivered materials match the required quantity, quality, drawings, and specifications.
- Place material orders on time according to the work plan, with a minimum lead time of 4 days for requested materials.
- Take care to ensure every ordered item corresponds to the drawings and actual site requirements.
- Escalate any mismatch or issue involving stakeholders, subcontractors, or other parties as early as possible.
- Follow up daily on all work scopes with stakeholders, subcontractors, and other involved parties without relying on the project coordinator.
- Make sure subcontractors are identified and finalized at the early stage of the project.
- Ensure that site works are completed with strong workmanship standards.
- Identify project bottlenecks and take immediate corrective action.
- Prepare and review method statements and risk assessments (MSRA).
- Supervise and coordinate a workforce effectively.
- Plan manpower according to project needs.
- Ensure the right internal staff and subcontractor workforce are available to complete daily site tasks.
- Share a daily manpower plan on the project WhatsApp group at least 30 minutes before site start time, detailing what will be achieved during the day.
- Forecast and communicate manpower needs in advance on a daily and weekly basis.
- Evaluate risks and control manpower deployment in line with UAE safety regulations.
- Remain present on site during operational hours.
- Post the daily progress report in the project WhatsApp group after site closure, ideally within 1 hour of closing time.
- Ensure the update compares planned work for the day against priorities and actual completion.
- Prepare record drawings, technical reports, and site diaries.
- Coordinate authority inspections and approvals, and help plan them effectively.
- Study project drawings and the Bill of Quantities to become fully familiar with the job.
- Review all finishes in detail to understand the project scope and specifications.
Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, architecture, engineering, interior design, or a similar discipline is required.
- Prior experience in turnkey interior fit-out projects, including retail, commercial, and residential work, is expected.
- Strong ability to analyze technical drawings is necessary.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the relevant field is required.
- A valid UAE driving license is mandatory.
