Role overview

This senior leadership position is focused on steering major projects and strategic initiatives to successful completion. The Project Director will guide portfolio-level delivery, set governance expectations, coordinate with executive stakeholders, and make sure work stays aligned with the organization’s objectives, budget, quality standards, and timelines.

In this role, you will partner with senior leaders, project managers, and cross-functional teams to improve delivery performance, handle risk proactively, and generate measurable business outcomes. The position calls for someone who brings strong strategic judgment, hands-on project leadership, and the ability to influence at an executive level.

Key responsibilities

  • Create and put into action project strategies that support company goals and business priorities.
  • Direct several projects and broader portfolios from launch through final delivery.
  • Set up governance structures, delivery controls, and practical project standards.
  • Guide project managers and cross-functional teams to keep execution on track.
  • Determine priorities, allocate resources, plan budgets, and set performance targets.
  • Track delivery progress, financial results, schedules, risks, and quality measures.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with executives, clients, vendors, and other important stakeholders.
  • Spot risks, interdependencies, and opportunities early, then apply suitable mitigation plans.
  • Ensure governance, compliance, reporting, and documentation are completed to organizational expectations.
  • Improve delivery methods, processes, and operating efficiency through continuous refinement.
  • Prepare leadership-level updates, portfolio summaries, and strategic advice for senior management.
  • Promote a work culture built on ownership, teamwork, innovation, and strong delivery performance.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of project management, portfolio oversight, and strategic business planning.
  • Proven leadership ability with strong communication and executive stakeholder handling skills.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, strategic judgment, and decision-making capability.
  • Background in managing complex initiatives, enterprise programs, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Working knowledge of Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, hybrid approaches, and project governance practices.
  • Comfort using project tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Asana, Monday.com, Trello, or similar platforms.
  • Experience handling budgets, forecasting, resource planning, and project financial performance.
  • Strong ability to organize, prioritize, and oversee multiple streams of work at a portfolio level.
  • Capability to lead change management and support business transformation efforts.
  • Good negotiation, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
  • Commitment to operational excellence, ongoing improvement, and strong business results.
