Role overview

Maple Reinders Constructors is hiring a Project Coordinator at level 1 for its Buildings team in Edmonton, Alberta. In this position, you will back up Project Managers on industrial, commercial, and institutional building work, helping keep projects organized, documented, and moving forward.

The role centers on maintaining contract records, assisting with estimating, and supporting the development of budgets and schedules. You will gain exposure to several contract models, including Design Build, Plan and Spec, and Construction Management.

This position is intended as a development path toward Project Manager responsibility. The pace of progression will depend on your growth, performance, and readiness to take on greater ownership.

Key purpose of the role

The Project Coordinator helps the Project Manager drive a successful project outcome: protecting profitability, ensuring the work follows the contract, delivering strong quality, and maintaining a safe jobsite.

What you will do

  • Help prepare project budgets and construction schedules, and keep files and project records organized.
  • With direction from the Project Manager or Senior Project Coordinator, assist in drafting and handling communications with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Learn the procurement workflow, including identifying trades and vendors and gathering pricing.
  • Support the review and clarification of subcontractor and vendor scopes of work.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, developers, and other stakeholders.
  • Encourage a strong safety mindset on site and help ensure compliance with regulations and company health and safety standards.
  • Take part in site meetings and assist in tracking and closing out project deficiencies.
  • Support tender close-out activities alongside senior leadership.

Experience and education

  • About 0.5 to 1.5 years, or more, of experience as a Project Coordinator or consultant in construction or a similar field.
  • A university degree or technology diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or a blend of education and industry experience.

Compensation and benefits

This is a full-time salaried role with weekly pay. Compensation is listed at $70,000 to $90,000 per year, depending on experience.
